About Maggie Ballard

Wichita Roots
Maggie was born and raised in Riverside. She attended Woodland Preschool, Riverside Elementary, Marshall Middle, and graduated from North High.
Today, she still calls Riverside home, raising her son Paxton and living with her husband Levi.
Entrepreneur & Small Business Owner
At 22, Maggie bought her first business, Maggie’s Scotch & Soda. Three years later, she purchased Riverside Perk, the coffee shop where she had her very first job.
Running small businesses taught her resilience, responsibility, and the importance of listening to customers - lessons she now applies to serving Wichita residents.

Paxton's Blessings Box
In 2016, Maggie and her son Paxton started Paxton’s Blessing Box, a free mutual-aid pantry to help neighbors in need.
What began as a single box in Riverside has grown into more than 100 locations nationwide, showing how one family’s idea can spark a movement of generosity and compassion.
Path to Public Service
In 2021, Maggie ran for City Council as a first-time candidate and defeated a well-funded incumbent. Her campaign was rooted in real-world experience, community service, and a promise to restore trust at City Hall.
In 2024, she was elected Vice Mayor by a unanimous 7–0 council vote.

Why District 6 Matters
District 6 is the heart of Wichita, encompassing Riverside, Midtown, Nomar, Old Town, and more. These neighborhoods are rich in history, culture, and small businesses.
For Maggie, representing District 6 is about protecting Wichita’s legacy while building a stronger future for all residents.
